My Style

I have never met someone for whom healing was out of reach and you are no different (and you may be thinking, “well you just haven’t met me yet”). Most of my people have come to be believing they were a lost cause. They had done therapy before, tried other treatments, or had long since just accepted there was no point. My people are often people who have never felt safe in their entire lives in a relationship or life in general, and as such don’t trust me or anyone else. And, of course they don’t, why would they? I don’t expect anything up-front. In fact, I ask that my people not trust me until or if they do, it’s on me to earn that trust.

(You’ll notice I keep saying “my people”, rather than “clients”…this is because once you’re one of my people, you’re one of my people. Regardless of how we met. I do not have a personal me and a professional me. I’m just me. If you are looking for the “clipboard therapist”, I’m not the right fit for you and that’s okay. I’m just Tiffany. This isn’t my job, it’s just me –I just somehow got lucky enough to support my family by being me. I recognize that sounds cheesy as all get up…and well that’s part of me too).

To me, the heart of basically everything is trauma and attachment wounding (trauma wounds being the bad things that happened to us, attachment wounds being the good things that should have happened and didn’t). We are the way we are for a reason. All those things you label as “issues” (anger, addiction, people pleasing, anxiety, etc…) that you have, well they make sense. They helped you survive, even if they aren’t working for you now or in the same way, at some point they were necessary.

In my opinion, trauma is also very hopeful, because trauma can heal. If you have “major depressive disorder”, you have major depressive disorder and will…if instead we see the depressive symptoms as symptoms of what you’ve been through, well then, we can heal through that trauma, and the symptoms fall away.

Being very honest, I don’t like a great deal of what we call therapy. Mostly because I feel like the focus of most therapy seems to be on providing a “band aid fix”, where you work on developing coping skills to manage your symptoms, or to just change your thoughts (as though it’s that easy) and are sent on your way. And a bandage on a gaping wound may help catch the blood, but it isn’t, in and of itself, going to heal the wound. I would much rather deal with what’s underneath(trauma), so you don’t need the skills or the bandage any longer. It does mean facing some really hard and uncomfortable things but with the goal of feeling better…not just for the moment but genuinely better.

IN SHORT: You’ve done what you had to in order to survive, now it’s time to start living.

My Specialties

I provide individual, couple’s and family therapy.

I work with people 10 years old through end of life (5-10 if specific to attachment and/or EMDR work). I am BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, gender affirming care, sex worker, ENM, and kink friendly and experienced. I am social justice/feminist driven, which to me basically means I see people first and believe that everyone deserves to have a voice, safety and value for who and how they are and our culture must be challenged as it is not inherently safe or fair. I acknowledge the privilege that exists for different populations and the injustices that are inherent of the lived experiences of those that do not possess this privilege. I also have experience and specialized training in working with first responders, veterans and their families.

**For couple’s and family therapy, I do ask that all members also participate in individual therapy with me as well. I have found that in knowing each member individually, I can help systems far more effectively when bringing everyone together.

Treatment Approach

What is most important to me is that you get what you need. I am going to focus on the underneath, healing the trauma and attachment wounds that led you to this point. The most important ingredient to healing, is felt safety and trust within our relationship. You deserve to have a space that you feel seen, heard, understood and valued for who you are. We have all experienced so much judgement and it makes vulnerability very scary. I am not afraid of the messy parts and tend to find them the most beautiful. The first step in healing is attachment work….testing this relationship to make sure that it is safe, that I mean what I say, and that you are not judged.

Once you find that safety, then we can get into the trauma more directly. I am a huge believer in EMDR (when done in the context of a safe relationship) and the ability we have to truly heal. I have extensive advanced training in EMDR and am an Approved Consultant for EMDR for other clinicians. With EMDR, I incorporate a lot of other approaches and lens. One of my favorites is parts work/IFS. I am very person centered, meaning this space is yours and you are the expert in your life.

I also provide couple’s and family therapy and have training in various approaches including Gottman Couple’s Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couple’s Therapy, and various models of parenting (positive parenting, Love and Logic, therapeutic parenting, TBRI, etc).

As mentioned above, please note that if you are looking for couple’s or family therapy, I do request to work individually with each of you at some level, as well, as I have found this makes the work together generally much more effective. Without knowing each individual member, it can be harder to understand the system dynamics, as well as make sure that everyone’s voice is shared and heard. Safety also comes with a strong relationship which is difficult to achieve when all together.

For information specific to my approach with attachment disorder, please reach out as this looks quite a bit different.

In addition, I also facilitate Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) and can help to connect you to medication prescribers for this. I utilize KAP with EMDR in order to help people further process their trauma and make connections, working towards further healing.

I am currently in the Mushroom Psilocybin Facilitator Program through Elemental Psychedelics, approved by the state of Colorado which will possibly lead to licensure as early as Spring 2025 through new DORA regulations.

I am also an AcuDetox/AcuWellness auricular acupuncture provider.
